Devepoing a pen for tremor patients: This pen for tremor patients is comprised of a pen rod, a pen shell, and a spring-damper element between the rod and the shell. Kinematics and Controls of a Docking Simulator at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center: Developed a closed-form forward kinematic anlaysis program and proposed/designed a closed-loop control with a feedforward element for the 6-DOF Stewart Platform docking simulator at the Contact Dynamics Simulation Lab (CDSL), NASA MSFC. This project was done with Joe Brown, a former CSUS student and currently an engineer at Honeywell, through the NASA Faculty Fellowship Program 2006.
Manufacturing Method for Producing Water Pasteurization Indicators (WAPIs): A project with CSUS Dept. of Biological Sciences to develop a simple and economical manufacturing method to produce the Water Pasteurization Indicators (WAPIs): The WAPIs can help people in third world countries for providing safe drinking water.

Automated Liquid Handling System for Life-Science Labs: A project with a company in San Francisco Bay area to develop an automated liquid handling system to help improve productivity at life-science laboratories.

Line-Force Generator for McPherson Automobile Suspension System: A project with a manufacturer of coil springs for automobile suspension systems. Coil springs for McPherson type automobile suspension systems need to be designed to minimize the strut friction force for providing riding comfortability to automobile passengers. The developed system is capable of generating 6-DOF forces via a parallel mechanism between two coil spring mounting plates of a given McPherson suspension system. The system allows spring designers to study the relationship between the force acting on the coil spring mounting plates and the strut friction force. Such experimental data is essential for designing an optimal suspension coil spring for riding comfortability. The device is currently U.S. patent pending.

Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) Actuator for Motion Control: Developed an actuator with a high output force to actuator weight ratio suitable for future miniature mechanisms with a variety of applications including micro-manufacturing.
